Program Introduction

The current world, including the effects of the pandemic (social distancing and isolation) has had a serious negative impact on mental health.

World Youth Radio is affiliated with a research project led by Prof Zhang Weiguo at the Sociology department, University of Toronto, named “Social support of Chinese elders to cope with COVID-19”. We have a significant number of high school volunteers that have recorded audio books to accompany socially-isolated elders with support and care.

We now offer professional training to youth, as result of the positive benefits of this study.  Our students experience live-hosting, DJing, producing, recording and editing their radio content.  The courses enhance their hands-on skills, collaboration, leadership and creativity.

Soon, our site will feature talk shows about health, art, sports, travel, and public affairs, all recorded and produced by our students.

Our Vision for The Future

  • Integrate youth into a harmonious and mutually supportive social community.
  • Actively develop an emotional connection to social care among youth.
  • Eventually our programs will establish and reinforce social care at all levels for the elderly, those with disabilities, children's hospitals and psychiatric rehabilitation centers.
